OPEN CELL

Open-cell spray foam insulation has tiny cells which are not completely closed. Open-cell is usually less expensive because it is developed using fewer chemicals. Open-cell is superior as an air barrier, and is sponge-like in appearance. It is often used to insulate interior walls because it minimizes outdoor noise intrusion. It is not recommended for outdoor applications. Read more to learn about our open-cell products.

Types of Open-Cell Spray Insulation Products:

  • SEALECTION 500

       Easy Installation - Lifelong Efficiency

Sealection® 500 has been Demilec's flagship product for more than 20 years, and has positioned Demilec as an industry-leading spray foam insulation manufacturer. As an environmentally-friendly product, it delivers superior performance, energy savings, and is an excellent return on investment for architects, builders, contractors, and homeowners, making it the ideal choice for insulation.

Sealection 500 is a cutting-edge formula of open-cell spray foam insulation, which expands 120 times its liquid volume to insulate and seal all cracks, gaps, and joints with a single application, and is easy to install and finish. It has dramatically increased energy efficiency for millions of residential and commercial property owners. This translates to a high-performing product for builders, shorter application, and finishing times for contractors, and lower energy bills for homeowners and commercial building owners.

Sealection 500 is a spray-applied adhesive, which once applied, expands in place using water-blown technology, without CFCs, HCFCs, or ozone-depleting chemicals. Unlike traditional fiberglass insulation, Sealection 500 will maintain its performance; time and temperature have no effect on the spray foam insulation's R-value of 3.81 at 1 inch. Sealection 500 never deteriorates or decomposes. The product retains its shape and half-pound density over time, and never settles or compacts.

Highlights of Sealection 500:

->> Contains no ozone-depleting chemicals, gases, fibers, or asbestos

->> Changes the building envelope design, which allows builders and contractors to           right-size HVAC systems, which typically results in using smaller HVAC systems

->> Cuts heating and cooling costs as much as 50 percent*

->> Minimizes outside noise, as airborne noise can no longer easily pass through                 walls

->> Less dust and allergens enter the environment due to the airtight seal

->> Maintains peak performance; it never deteriorates or decomposes

Sealection 500 is in compliance with the International Building Code® (IBC), the International Residential Code® (IRC), and the International Energy Conservation Code® (IECC).

Sealection 500 is also an NAHB Research Center Green Approved Product and an Eco Logo Certified Green

Product.

  • DEMILEC APX 2.0

Demilec APX 2.0 is the newest addition to the open cell offering and meets the requirements for AC377 Appendix X and can be installed in attics and crawl spaces without the need for an ignition barrier.

Building code requires attics or crawl spaces to be protected by an ignition barrier or other approved material when utilizing spray foam insulation. Demilec APX 2.0 passes the AC377 Appendix X requirements to allow installation without an ignition barrier or expensive intumescent paints or coatings. One step. Quicker install. Less labor.

Demilec APX 2.0 also provides an air barrier, insulates, and seals in one application and offers superior performance and value.

  • AC377 Appendix X compliant. No ignition barrier required in attics and crawl spaces.

  • Increased yield vs. Demilec APX 1.2

  • Wider application window and improved sprayability

  • Environmentally friendly and energy efficient

  • Reduces outside noise and pollutants

  • Does not deteriorate or decompose

  • DEMILEC APX 1.2

       Revolutionary New Standard for Fire Safety

Demilec APX® 1.2 is a revolutionary, open-cell spray foam insulation applied in attics and crawl spaces. It is compliant with the stringent fire test requirements of the International Building Code, and can be used in attics and crawlspaces without additional fire protection. Demilec APX 1.2 has an R-value of 3.7 at 1 inch, and is a half-pound density foam. In case of a fire, once the flame is removed from the spray foam insulation, the insulation will not propagate a flame. This superior fire performance eliminates the need for additional protection materials and provides a new standard for fire safety.

Demilec APX 1.2 provides the following benefits:

->> Air barrier

->> Reduces energy costs

->> Reduces outside pollutants

->> Minimizes outside noise

->> AC 377 Appendix X compliant

->> No ignition barrier required

->> Insulates and seals in one application

->> California CA01350 – Low VOC compliant

->> Excellent energy efficiency

->> Superior performance and value

Demilec APX 1.2 is in compliance with the International Building Code® (IBC), the International Residential Code® (IRC), and the International Energy Conservation Code® (IECC).

  • AGRIBALANCE

      Innovative Technology Promoting a Green Future

Agribalance® merges our high-performing, open-cell spray foam insulation with natural, renewable oils. This allows architects, builders, contractors, and homeowners to achieve new standards of performance, quality, and energy efficiency.

This high R-value of 4.45 at 1 inch, polyurethane insulation expands to seal cracks, gaps, and voids in attics, walls, crawl spaces, and ceilings. Agribalance is a three-quarter pound density foam that reduces air leakage by improving energy efficiency, and reducing moisture intrusion and outside contaminants such as dust, dirt, and allergens. As a result, builders can generally install smaller, more energy-efficient HVAC systems and achieve similar, or superior comfort compared to traditionally insulated structures which require a larger, less efficient HVAC system – resulting in higher energy costs.

Since it tightly bonds to surfaces in the attic, ceiling, and walls, extraneous noise is also minimized.

Benefits of Agribalance:

->> Developed with 20% of Agri-based, renewable materials

->> Decreases dust and air pollutants

->> Maximizes energy efficiency

->> Minimizes noise disturbance

->> Contains no ozone-depleting chemicals, gases, fibers, or asbestos

Agribalance is in compliance with the International Building Code® (IBC), the International Residential Code® (IRC), and the International Energy Conservation Code® (IECC).

Agribalance is also a USDA Bio-Preferred Product and an NAHB Research Center Green Approved Product.
